At the recent Sheridan Interactive Multimedia class field trip. We visited the Sheridan shape recognition research laboratory headed by Song Ho Ahn. Song, who is based out of Oakville's Sheridan College, has been working on a freaky project. He uses a normal computer camera; with it he recognizes shapes of the face. These shapes are transferred into information and instantly to a 3d character. That’s when it starts to get freaky. Now there is a computer animation that you're looking at that is moving like you.
Shape recognition would be a very cool thing to see in gaming for one. I know I would love to see something like this, where you could have your own 3d identity with real gestures.
